Get Involved in NAHAM – Join a Committee Today!


The NAHAM 2018 Call for Volunteers is open through July 13, 2018! NAHAM is recruiting new committee volunteers who are enthusiastic to get involved, eager to make a difference and committed to enhancing the patient access services profession.

Join a NAHAM committee to share your experiences and expertise, connect with fellow members and collaborate with your peers on programs and initiatives aimed at advancing the profession - all while developing skills that will benefit you both personally and professionally.

Your roles and responsibilities as a committee member can be found here. By applying for a committee position, you confirm that you are willing and able to meet these responsibilities and to be an active, contributing member.


Do you work in an ambulatory care setting? Do you have experience with marketing and/or content development? We need you! Please consider volunteering your expertise on any of the NAHAM committees listed below. 

NAHAM is looking to recruit new volunteers for each of the following committees:

Certification Commission

The Certification Commission assures the quality and integrity of NAHAM's certification programs by developing and establishing program policies, regulations, and examination materials. Members interested in the certification process and assisting with the CHAM and CHAA examinations are encouraged to participate.


Conference Committee

The Conference Committee identifies exceptional education and develops the robust schedule for the NAHAM annual conference. The Conference Committee is responsible for all things program related and their job is to ensure the best educational event possible. Members in ambulatory care settings are strongly desired for this committee.  

Education Committee

The Education Committee develops, implements, and coordinates association education activities. These include webinars, contact hour assignments, CHAM and CHAA preparation materials, conference, and other education initiatives. Members in ambulatory care settings are strongly desired for this committee.  

Industry Standards Committee

The Industry Standards Committee develops performance standards, best practices, and benchmarks through data collection and development of industry-specific tools and resources. The Industry Standards Committee developed the NAHAM AccessKeys and will continue to update them.

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee develops, implements, and coordinates membership activities to ensure a diverse membership. The membership committee is the organizer and host of the First Timers/New Member event at NAHAM's annual conference and is responsible for all recruitment and retention activities related to membership. The committee would benefit from volunteers who can spend time contacting current and potential members and who are willing and able to recruit new members. Members in ambulatory care settings are strongly desired for this committee.  

Policy Development/Government Relations Committee

The Policy Development/Government Relations Committee develops, liaisons, and coordinates activities with governmental agencies, federal, state and local legislative bodies that promote NAHAM’s mission and provide direct communication with NAHAM membership. Members interested in becoming part of a rapid response team for hot legislative or regulatory issues are strongly encouraged to join. Members in ambulatory care settings are strongly desired for this committee.  

Publications/Communications Committee

The Publications Committee develops and coordinates the production of publications that promote and communicate NAHAM's mission, objectives, goals, and activities. This committee is seeking members willing to solicit information from colleagues and prepare articles for publication in our Journal and on our web site.

Special Projects Committee

The Special Projects Committee serves the membership through its work on matters key to the mission of NAHAM but not currently addressed by other committees. Membership on the Special Projects Committee is to represent a cross section of NAHAM’s membership in order to fully utilize the talents of members from a variety of demographics. The next project for the Special Projects Committee will be to consider NAHAM's content strategy and to identify content areas where NAHAM can contribute thought leadership. If you have any experience or interest in these areas, please consider applying for this committee. 

All Active, Associate and Business Partner members are encouraged to apply. You must be a current member to NAHAM to apply and you must maintain your membership status during your term if you are appointed to a committee. Committee member appointments are made by committee chairs. Terms will last two consecutive calendar years and will run from August 1, 2018 – July 31, 2020.
