CHAM 2015 Revised Contact Hour Guidelines

NAHAM Contact Hours

NAHAM certificants are required to participate in ongoing professional education to maintain their credential(s). Fulfilling certification maintenance requirements demonstrates one's efforts to maintain continued competence in the field of patient access services and the desire to keep the Certified Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM) credential.

Effective July 1, 2015, NAHAM will require those participating in the CHAM Certification Maintenance Program to obtain ten (10) NAHAM-provided certification maintenance hours out of the sixty (60) total hours needed to retain CHAM certification.

As a credentialing body, NAHAM is requiring ten (10) certification maintenance hours earned from the association in part because the knowledge and skills required for competent occupational and professional performance are provided from the association itself (presenter at Access Week, Webinars, and the NAHAM Annual Conference).

NAHAM offerings not only offer you ways to stay current within the field, but more opportunities to connect with fellow CHAMs and exchange best practice outcomes throughout the year.

Qualifying Activities

An updated list of NAHAM Approved hours is available here.
There are no changes to other activity requirements for the remaining fifty (50) hours required for CHAM maintenance.

Application Process

The online application process remains the same, with one minor variable changing; when entering your record of hours earned, there will be two options instead of one:

1. General Professional Development Activities

2. NAHAM Approved Contact Hours
please select this option to enter your ten (10) NAHAM Approved Contact Hours).

The NAHAM Audit will still take place, with 10% of the applicant pool being chosen at random. Please click here and click into Application Information for more information on the NAHAM Audit process.

Thank you for participating in the CHAM Credential Program. If you have any questions regarding this change, please don’t hesitate to contact or 202.367.1125.
