NAHAM 44th Annual Conference Call for Learning Lab Proposals

May 3 - 6, 2018
Denver, Colorado  


You are invited to submit a proposal to present at the NAHAM 44th Annual Conference. We are seeking inspiring presenters to share critical information and practices with patient access management professionals from around the nation. The theme for the 2018 conference is "Elevating Patient Access." Please feel free to incorporate this theme into your presentation.

Please read ALL instructions and guidelines below before submitting your proposal.

 Critical Dates

    • The deadline for submissions is October 20, 2017. Late submissions cannot be considered.
    • Accept/decline letter will be sent via email by December 22, 2017.
    • Deadline to fax/email signed copy of presenter acceptance letter to NAHAM is January 12, 2018. 
    • Presentation due to NAHAM by Friday, March 16, 2018.  All accepted Learning Lab presenters are required to submit their PowerPoint presentations to NAHAM in advance of the conference. Failure to do so may result in your learning lab session being removed from the schedule. 

     Potential Themes for Learning Lab presentations:

    • Operations (Scheduling, Financial Clearance, Financial Counseling, etc.)
    • Management & Leadership (Job Titles & Descriptions, Mentoring, Inspiring Employees, Change Management, Training, Education)
    • Technology (Kiosks, Call Center, etc.)
    • Process Improvement (Standards & KPIs, AccessKeys, Streamlining Operations, Operational Case Studies, Training/Education)
    • Regulatory & Compliance (CMS, Joint Commission, MOON, 501r) 
    • Patient Experience 
    • Current “Hot Topics” (Transgender Sensitivity, Diversity, Work from Home)
    • Miscellaneous/Other

    New for 2018: Vendor Submissions 

    Vendors should only submit proposals in partnership with Patient Access professionals. Independent vendor submissions will not be considered for presentation.  


    Why Should You Present a Learning Lab?


    Benefits of presenting at the 2018 NAHAM Annual Conference include:

    • One free conference registration per presentation; panel presentations will determine which individual gets the free registration
    • Recognition by your colleagues

    • Networking, exposure, and new professional contacts
    • Recognition for providing credible and accredited education, enhancing your resume
    • Presenters earn contact hours good toward certification maintenance

    Presentation Types:

    Learning Labs: Maximum of four presenters. These presentations are reserved for individuals working in the field of Patient Access and will account for the majority of the educational content to be offered at the conference. Each concurrent workshop session will be 1.25 hours. Presentation material should be planned for approximately 60 minutes to allow some time for discussion and questions. All workshops MUST be free of any commercial bias and will be monitored for compliance. Note: In the event that there are several concurrent workshops papers submitted on the same topic, NAHAM may elect to create a session panel with equally timed presentations during one concurrent workshop session.

    Learning Lab presenters are encouraged to consider innovative presentation and discussion ideas. Interactive sessions are welcomed.   

    Poster Presentation: This presents an option for those members who want to present a successful implementation/process change outside of the concurrent workshop environment without doing a live presentation (or in addition to a live presentation). More information will be available in the coming weeks.


    One complimentary registration will be provided per presentation. Panel presentations will need to determine which individual receives this registration.


    Please note that Learning Lab presenters will be responsible for their own hotel reservations and costs.  


    Proposal Evaluation

    The NAHAM Conference Committee will evaluate your proposal based on the following criteria: 
    • Topical Significance
    • Innovation 
    • Relevancy of Learning Objectives
    • Session would be of importance and interest to attendees 
    • If you have presented at NAHAM in the past, your session evaluations will be considered.
