Length of Webinar: 1 hour

With the implementation of the 2010 Affordable Care Act (ACA) well under way, the implications are clear: Healthcare delivery and financing are now even more unpredictable. As individuals gain access to health insurance, a host of regulatory requirements are unleashed and provider reimbursements continue to decline.

Healthcare providers will face mounting pressures to establish new systems and processes that will improve care coordination, quality, patient outcomes and more.  Providers will be forced, even greater, to control costs – including workforce expenses, and to stream-line operations.

Beyond just efficiency improvements, successful organizations will focus upon improving the customer experience, providing easy access to services, providing efficient registration/check-in activities, and offering knowledgeable financial counseling services.

This is a time of great change; however, facing these challenges face-on may also offer great opportunities for the prudent Patient Access manager!

At the end of this course, you should be able to:

  • Understand the history and characteristics of the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
  • Understand key components of ACA, primarily focusing upon health insurance enrollment, coverage and impact to healthcare providers.
  • Understand the business challenges faced in implementing this program.
  • Understand our point of view on best ways to manage patient access needs of this population.
  • Have a gained interest in developing future state patient access operations that positively address these challenges.
  • Share some examples of industry best practices (participant input).
