FAQ's of the CHAM Examination
Below are some frequently asked questions about the NAHAM CHAA Exam. If you have additional questions, not answered on this page, please contact us.
What material should I read before I apply for the Certified Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM) exam?
It is the responsibility of the candidate to read the entire contents of the Candidate Guide to Certification before applying for the examination.
Am I able to receive a refund?
Only on the condition of personal illness, death in the family, or natural disaster will NAHAM refund any previous paid fees.
When can I test?
It is the responsibility of the candidate to know all deadlines associated with the certification process; late registrations are not accepted. Your examination date may be any day during one of the four test administration periods of January, April, July, and October. NAHAM does not offer specific testing dates; it is a date chosen by you and your proctor. Remember the entire month is open for testing.
Do I have to pay for the exam right away?
No, simply select "submit without payment" on the final page of your application exam in Certification Central.
Who may serve as Proctor?
Proctor's must be manager level or above and not the direct supervisor of the candidate. It is the responsibility of the candidate to identify and confirm a qualified proctor .
How does my proctor receive my testing information?
Once an application has been approved, testing information will be sent out via e-mail to proctors and candidates prior to the start of the testing window.
I passed the exam, am I an official NAHAM member?
No, holding the CHAM credential does not convey membership in NAHAM. We invite non-member certificate holders to join us as new members .
I didn't pass the exam, what next?
You may only take the examination once per testing window. In order to re-take the CHAM examination at the $50 fee, you must test in the next consecutive testing window. Please click here for more information.
Can I see what questions I missed?
No, NAHAM does not give out individual questions missed on any examination, however you will receive a percentage break-down on how you did in each section.
What do I have to do to maintain my CHAM credential?
It is the responsibility of the candidate to understand the Certification Maintenance Program and the applicable deadlines in order to keep their certification active.
Can I change my testing window?
Yes, you may change testing periods by filling out our Examination Date Change form and paying a fee of $50 before the end of the testing window.
I decided not to test, can I switch my payment to someone else?
No, test payment(s) cannot be transferred to another candidate.
