Contact Hour Guidelines - National Association of Healthcare Access Management

Ongoing learning and enhancing one’s skills are crucial to any professional today – especially those who hold a certification in their field. That is one reason why NAHAM, like many other certifying bodies, has a certification maintenance requirement associated with our credential program.

NAHAM defines professional development as any activity:

where the certificate holder is the learner;that is directly or indirectly related to the practice of patient access services;

that results in the acquisition of new knowledge and skills, or the enhancement of current knowledge and skills;
where the certificate holder is responsible for determining that the professional development activity is appropriate, relevant, and meaningful to patient access services;
in which the certificate holder's attendance can be documented by a third party such as an employer, educational institution, or sponsoring organization.

NAHAM's updated Guide to Contact Hours is a listing of professional development activities that are examples of the types of qualifying activities you should participate in over the years in order to obtain the necessary amount of hours to maintain your certification.
