Who May Serve as a Proctor?
Certification > Certification Overview and Candidate Guide

All CHAM and CHAA examinations must be proctored and candidates must notify NAHAM of their proctor’s identity at the time of application. The responsibilities of NAHAM Certification Examination proctors include ensuring a proper testing site, providing the candidates with their private access codes, guarding against any irregularities during the actual testing, and others matters.

  1. Proctors may not be a manager/supervisor of examination candidates.

  2. Individuals who are CHAM certified may proctor either the CHAM or the CHAA examination pending compliance with number 1 above.   Individuals holding the CHAA credential may not serve as proctors.

  3. If your hospital has an Education or Training department, a manager level or above staff person who is not a direct supervisor of the candidate may serve as proctor.

  4. Examinations may be offered at local NAHAM Affiliate meetings. A listing of affiliate meetings may be located on NAHAM’s web site under the “Calendar” tab. You may contact the individual listed in the meeting notice in our Calendar to ask if the CHAM or CHAA will be offered at the meeting and if so, who will be serving as proctor.

  5. Examinations may be taken at the NAHAM Annual Conference each spring. You may contact NAHAM directly to be informed of the identity of the proctor.

  6. Another possible solution is to contact CHAM certified individuals located in or near your city or town. You can use the online NAHAM membership directory to identify CHAM certified individuals located near you or you may contact NAHAM for assistance.
